Tortuguero Canals Tour Jan 21, 2012
We went here following a trip from zip wiring. The ticket we had included this.
We drove to a small port named Moin, and here we boarded a boat with rooftop and comfortable seats, (there is so much rain in Costa Rica - we were thankful for the roofed boat). This lead us through the living jungle that stretches over the narrow canals, formed by the rivers born in the high mountains, making their way to the sea.
Common sightings here are monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas and sloths. We didn't see any crocodiles however we were lucky enough to see a sloth sleeping but further down the canal there was one with a baby and they were getting food.
The canals of Tortuguero are without a doubt one of the main attractions in Costa Rica, and this is a unique opportunity to experience this natural wonder. You will pass through some of the country’s most fertile areas and learn about Costa Rica’s main agricultural products. Along the way, you will see cocoa plantations and ornamental flowers. The tour guide is very knowledgable and is happy to answer any questions you may have about the country.
What to bring: Sun Glasses, Mosquito Repellent, Binoculars, Camera and Sun Block.
