Tórshavn is the capital of the Faroes. It's pretty small - one of the smallest capitals in the world - but it's very beautiful!

Tórshavn is a very colourful city. Green nature and the houses are very colourful; red, green, blue, yellow etc.

Tinganes is the old part of the city. Here, at about AD 900, the Vikings set up the first Faroese parliament, the Løgting.

There are many old houses and the houses that the Faroese parliament used to meet in. It's one of the oldest parliamentary meeting places in the world! The federal government still sits here, but the parliament has moved north in the city.

Tórshavn city has a population of about 12.400 people (2007), including the metro area it has almost 20.000 inhabitants.
