By the time morning finally arrived, the rain had finally stopped although the wind continued to blow and gust throughout the day. Not as hard as the night before, but still more blustery than we had experienced to date other than perhaps on our boat journey on Lago Grey. And Las Torres…

The next day we were to take a boat at 12 to our lamb barbeque at an estensia. But before that German offered to take us for a short kayak trip up another river to a lago to have a final view of the torres massif. We took up the offer and were off in the morning sunshine.
As has been the case it s…

If I were a religious man I'd say 50 hail Marys or something similarly respectful to the big man/woman/being of non-specific gender in the sky for the four days of close to flawless walking weather we received. I'm not though so I'll just say "Ta!" to Ma Nature instead. There were two light periods…

Despite going to bed last night with a sore throat and high fever, today began at 2am - when me and 4 friends set out on a two hour hike in the darkness up to the Mirador Las Torres.
Our plan was to set out early and make the ascent to the Towers in a race against the sun. Sunri…

Fresh off the four days on the ferry from Puerto Montt I was looking into planning my hiking trip in Torres del Paine. Our last day in the Park was a rainy one so packing the tent up was quite comical, if a little soggy. We just hhad enough time to clamber up to another mirador to look in awe at the Paines mountains set against the turquoise blue Lago Pehoe. Our final trip was on the disproportionately priced …

Neither of us slept well and I was up with the alarm at 5:20, had breakfast in the Horizon Court and was in the Princess Theater at 6:30 against a 6:50 deadline, the first to arrive.
