Striking Apr 24, 2011
Constructed in the fourteenth century, this clock tower is in the heart of Lucca on via Fillungo and is the largest structure of its kind in the town. It has recently been heavily restored and for a few Euros (around 2-5 Euros), you can climb right up to the top of the 207 wooden steps. Apart from being an impressive feat of technology from the medieval period, the building is rather striking and you are bound to see it while you are touring Lucca. You will see it for sure, and if you have the breath, it’s worth paying the entrance fee just for the good views at the top.
