We headed back to Toronto on the train yesterday, pretty uneventful journey, we did get some views of Lake Ontario though once we were nearing Toronto.  We arranged our train tickets to go to Jasper from Winnipeg next wednesday. After signing in at HI Toronto we went to our room and were slightly disappointed - 3 bunkbeds all squashed into a tiny room - think we were both a little disheartened!!  I'm sure its not going to be the worst of our travels!!  Went out for a wander do...

Leaving Canada: Heading to Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China, and later to Victoria, B.C. Canada

I left Dec. 25th, 2007 to China ... the kids and hubby looked on as they knew this was going to be a long trip/separation.  I took Air Canada to Vancouver Airport and walked towards the Hong Kong Oasis gates taking photos of the airport along the way.  When in HK I stayed in Kowloon, later visited Toi O fishing village, and the Giant Buddha on Lantau Island, 爛頭 (located at the mouth of the Pearl River).  Guangzhou, Macau or Macao 澳門, Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin (a ...

Day 1 - Arrival

Again, I was late. But what’s new? I met Steven at St. Andrew’s station at 1pm. It was a sunny day in Toronto so we were really lucky. We took the cab to the distillery district. After realizing that I can’t watch the Champions Cup game there, we booted it to The Esplanade and had lunch and a few drinks at the Scotland Yard as I watch Liverpool annihilate Fartsenal (hahaha I love lame play-on words) 4-2. After the sweet victory we walked to the St. Lawrence market to look at various tou...

My friend Rudy decided to take the plunge and get married this past week. I love this guy to death and I do believe that he found the perfect girl for him. However, for ppl who know me, I am not really the wedding type of girl BUT since it was an Italian/Portuguese/Latin American wedding I knew that I had to make an appearance for a few reasons. 1.) The food. 2.) The booze 3.) Well, I guess its cuz my friend is tying the knot. The reception was very lovely, I told all my close girl friends th...

Toronto, Canada -› -› ...
This was a pretty boring day so I am not even going to bother writing much about it.  We didn't get to bed until 4:30am, so you know how that goes.  It was just downhill from there!I must say, though, that Canadians are some of the friendliest people I have ever met during my travels, whether I am abroad and they are fellow travelers, or I am in their home country.   Hopefully I'll be returning to Canada soon!

All around Toronto and area

This blog is just to highlight some random events and things I've done within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and vicinity. Toronto is the largest city in Canada and there is a lot to see and do. Often enough you tend to take for granted everything the city has to offer when you live there.  I’ve been procrastinating and initially wasn’t going to write a blog at all but I’ve de...

Amy's husband David is the cook of the house, and he made lemon scones which are the best I have ever had. Scones are hard to make, or it's easy to end up with scones which are hocky pocks. These were just right and fresh, and Kevin and I each had 2 or 3 for breakfast. We also got to have Montreal bagles, these are smaller and denser bagles than the New York bagles and tasted just a bit different. We are tourists today! We visited the tallest CN Tower in downtown Toronto, at 1815 feet, more th...

so got up early Friday.....had to go with my cousin Gerry to pick up a rental car.  Went down to his restaurant.  Actually helped him to refill some supplies and get things set up for the breakfast rush before his staff arrived. At around 9am he called over to his friend at the rental car office.  My cousin was told that they were short staffed and he would have to come to the office.  We left to drive over and after getting there it took about 20 minutes to get a vehicle...

Toronto truely has a lot to offer and it's very hard to pick out just one thing that's great about it, unfortunetly many of the districts are at far distances from each other, but they all all unique and worth visiting. Here are the main areas of Toronto and what each is best known for: Bloor & Yorkville is the 5th avenue and Champes Elysee of Toronto, the rich area full of high scale shopping and restaurants where many of the famous from Hollywood can be spotted while filming in Toront...

I found it really weird that a lot of my TB friends have never really seen 20 cm of snow before. So I figure that I would take some pics so they would know the anguish I go through every morning. This doesn't even look half as bad as it actually feels. All I have to say is that my body isn't made for this type of weather :P To top it off, our car got stuck in a snow bank and it took us about half an hour to drive to the mall, which is about 8 km away from our house.

What do you do when the wind chill is causing it to be -22? Honestly I have never felt cold like it, it feels like someone is slapping your face. The rest of my body is fine, but there is only so much of your face you can cover! I actually got an ice cream headache walking to the museum yesterday. Had a look at the forecast for Montreal and it's even colder, lows of -28 *shiver*The museum was good, sort of like the Natural History in London, except $20. The queue to get in was huge, probably ...
