Tomales Bay is a coastal estuary located approximately 40 miles northest of San Francisco. It is 6800 acres and twelve miles long, occupying a shallow seward rift of the San Andreas fault.
The area is easily reached by Highway 1 and has a unique make up of Bishop pine and Douglas Fir on the west side, called Iverness Ridge. The east side is oak woodland and grassland, rich with dairy and beef ranches. This region is also home to a number of oyster and abalone farms and provides surberb kayaking, canoeing, and beach camping.
