The charnel house was built between 1936 and 1938, following the plans of a building company from Munich. In it, the mortal remains are burried of about 1000 German soldiers killed during the 12th Isonzo Offensive in October 1917. Later we were told that this place is haunted. If I knew this before, I probably wouldn't visit it...

Ride - Day 10 (May 28), Bovec, Slovenia to Tolmin, Slovenia (van transfer to Piran, Slovenia) 37.5km (23.5 miles) A short, easy day of riding for our last day in the saddle.  Continuing down the Soca river valley on a gradual descent most of the way to Tolmin.  Saw groups of kayakers and rafters out on the turquoise colored river (another reason to come back to Slovenia at some point in the future).  A break in Kobarid to visit the WWI museum there was an ...
