Apr 03, 2006Here are some places I went to in Tokyo: Tsukiji Fish Market: Go early in the morning (like 5am) and you can see locals auction off fish/seafood. It's pretty exciting! Shibuya: considered by some as "the heart of Japan" - has one of the world's largest and most famous intersection, massive amounts of people, and giant screens everywhere. This district is very trendy and is probably the best place to shop. Imperial Palace (in Maranouchi): Open only 2 days a year (12/23 - the emperor's birthday, and the new year), but the garden is open every day (I think). Ginza: has a Kabuki theater, very bougie (lots of high-rollers and designer shops) Asakusa: has one of the few shrines/temples in Tokyo, a huuuge lantern that marks the beginning of the path towards the shrine, lined with tourist booths Shinjuku: I only went there at night, but it's a popular place for young people to go, and it's covered with neon lights. Roppangi: Where all the foreigners are - there are tons of bars and a very diverse crowd. Harajuku: my favorite! There are dancing Elvis's, and crazy goth teens Ueno Park: I didn't actually go here, but it's supposed to be nice! |
