Affordable Hotel Nov 09, 2009
I stayed here for 5 days in May 2009. I did not pre book this hotel and just walked in from the street to see if vacancies were available. The staff spoke english quite well and after i informed her of our budget adjusted the price for us. We had suitcases, large ones as i had been in japan for 3 weeks and wanted to end my stay in a hotel rather than the hostel which i has been in and the stairs which you had to climb were a difficulty as there is no lift and no help was offered, however we left our bags in the reception area while our room was prepared and went about our business and the staff put our bags into our room upon our return. The room was lovely and clean, small but had had a great TV, a double AND a 3 quarter bed and the bedding can only be described as amazing after the hostel i had spent the previous 3 weeks in!!! However upon reflection was no different to a standard travel lodge in England. The Ensuite can only be compared to a caravan, like a unit within the room which you had to step up to get into. A Bath and shower as wel as the toilet and sink were in there. The water was hot and plentiful. The Tokyo plaza was a typical hotel. We were relaxing after our sightseeing and spent quite a bit of time in this room and the staff kept telephoing the room to see if they could change the towels, which became a bit of a hassle especially as on day one we had not even used them!!! However they are doing there job and you cant complain about them wanting to give you clean fresh towels. In the end we ignored them and they placed towels outside the door. The second day we were leaving and noticed on the floor outside the room next door a cockroach on paper under a cup!!! We had NO problems with this in our room and the place was very clean so i found it surprising to see this. Just off the reception area on the first floor was a little cafe, which sold pastries, coffee and softdrinks and offered a great view of the street below and was lovely just go and sit in and relax. The staff were on the whole great and this was a relaxing place to stay and was surprisingly cheap. I love okubo and if i could have afforded to stay here longer i would have.
