Nice escape from the usual desert scenery Jun 25, 2012
Tohono Chul Park turned out to be much more than I expected. As a Tucson resident, I was suprised I hadn't heard of this place yet. The scope of desert life packed in to a relatively small area is pretty stagggering, and a hidden gem among most of the other more bland areas of desert. I went earlier in the day, which is a good idea in order to escape some of the intense afternoon heat. The area is very easy to navigate and is even acceptable for less mobile visitors.

Be sure to bring a camera to capture some great shots of plants and wildlife. Also, be sure to pack some trail mix or granola bars in your pockets because any on site food is rather expensive. The gift shop is also a tad pricey, but is still very inviting and a must-walk-though experience. I did buy a book too.

If you go, it's sure to be pretty rewarding.

Historic Arizona - The Tohono Indian Culture Mar 06, 2010
Located on a little less than 50 acres of land, the Tohono Chul Park serves as a cultural and historic site for the Native American Indian tribe - Tohono O'Odham.

It is a beautiful, well kept and serene park with trails leading down the lovely gardens. On the property are a great Tea room, 3 art gallerias and a museum. Animals in this park roam free. The trails are mor elike those you find at the Sonora Desert Museum, but better kept.

The park is open daily from 8am to 5pm. The gift shops, greenhouse, and exhibit house open at 9am. If you happen to be in Tucson, this is a great day excursion, a coupl eof hours is all you need.
