A nice meal but overpriced wine put a damper on the evening Jan 10, 2012
The Toby Cottage restaurant is located in the leafy Surrey village of Ripley. The building looks full of character and once inside our first impressions were confirmed.a very small car park adjoining the restaurant but otherwise parking spaces were somewhat restricted. There was ample choice on the menu and the food was a good quality, if a little overpriced but for a special occasion well worth it. We thought the staff interacted well with the customers and were not in your face. In fact it was a relaxing evening as we were allowed to eat at our own pace. What really got up our noises was the price of wine(and in many cases other drinks). The mark up was excessive. Overall it was a good evening but the prices of drinks put a damper on overall view. Would be eat here again. The jury is out.

A little upmarket, excellent food but expensive drinks Feb 05, 2012
The Toby Cottage restaurant is located in the leafy village of Ripley in Surrey. It has a Dickensian feel about it and is a nice place to dine if celebrating a special event. The service is very personable and the food is excellent although the A La Carte menu does not come cheap. The mark up prices on the wine was far too high and the drinks prices here as a whole need to be reduced. Dress code is at least smart casual although there were a number of customers wearing suits.
