Tirau Vacation Guide
Tirau is located on NZ 1 between Hamilton and Taupo. It's a small town of about 700 persons in population. Tirau is a great place to stop over for lunch, a stretch, or a cup of coffee. Be sure to check out the famous buildings built out of corrugated tin to look like a sheep and a dog! These buildings house the tourist information bureau for the area. They also have local arts and crafts.
