Tirana International Airport is quite small, but well equipped with shopping facilities. It is located in a village called Rinas, between Durres, Kruje and Tirana, but since Tirana is the capital, it is called Tirana International Airport. Athens, Istanbul, Rome and Vienna are the most frequently served destinations, London and Paris are the most distant destinations. Most passengers arrive by car or (shared) taxi, but there is also a bus connection to Tirana. All passengers are carried by bus between aircraft and terminal, even if the distance is so short that walking would be faster.

The airport is well guarded by local police. They have a strict passport check for incoming and outcoming passengers, and a security check according to international standards. All employees within the airport speak proper English, German or Italian.

I found this to be a very pleasant small airport although the hustling taxi drivers did rather annoy me. I shall post a review here in due course.
