Incredible rainforest lodging Feb 16, 2010
I am not sure how you get to stay at this biodiversity station because it was crazy getting there. First, we few from Quito to Coca, then we took a boat down the Rio Coca to the petroleros area, then a bus ride to the Tiputini river, then another boat ride to the biodiversity station. Over all it took over 6 hours. The place is literally right in the Amazon rain forest. The cabins are not at all rustic for what you would expect in that situation. Yeah there is no hot water and the electricity goes off at a certain point at night but there is plenty of space, clean linens, etc. The food is FABULOUS. The rain forest is right at your door literally. We got to see monkeys from behind our cabin, a tarantula, a banana spider, a cool frog etc.
