The Palakkad Fort is one of the forts in Kerala located in the heart of Palakkad town. Same was built in ancient times and very well preserved. This fort is an Archaeological Survey of India protected Monument. As per the sign board at the entrance, this fort was built by Mysore's Haider Ali in 1766 AD. Also known as Tipu's fort, Tipu sultan used a huge ground situated next to this fort to keep the Elephants and Horses in those war times. In 1970AD British forces have captured this fort.
2KM walking track is laid around this fort. Children park and Open Air auditorium are part of this complex.
Museum and Lord Hanuman temple are inside the fort and attracts number of visitors and local devotees daily.
Entrance to fort is free.
