We stayed at the International dorm for students at Xiamen University. It was very clean and nice with an awesome view on both sides. Food in the area was very cheap but if i did not have my sisters who speak mandarin there with me i would have been hopeless. There are very few people who speak English in Xiamen but the ones who do are pretty good. The main strip has tons of shops and the night life is awesome it was an amazing overall experience. I'd also recommend going to the botanical gardens they are gorgeous.
