Tough job climbung up to the cave entrance, but worth it. Jun 29, 2008
On our way from SLC we came by American Fork Canyon. Over there you can find the Timpanogos Cave, which in fact leads you through a fault line which is pretty cool. The climb up to the cave entrance is a steep one of about 1,5mi. It was a very hot day, even the rangers were having a hard time. Fortunately the whole path is paved. Normally you can do the oneway in about an hour, they give you about 1,5 hours before your tour starts. I got there in about 45 minutes with some reststops.

Our tour consisted of only 8 people so we had plenty of time to ask questions and look around inside the cave. When you're claustrofobic skip this one, some parts of the cave are extremely narrow. The tour takes about an hour, and takes you among the heart of the cave, a heart shaped rock, which was pretty cool. Be sure to take a sweater, inside temperatures are about 45F, which is like a fridge.

One of the most Breathtaking Hikes Mar 22, 2008
Mount Timpanogos or Timp as we locals call it, is one of the best hikes around. You start at the bottom of the mountain and go up to the top on a steep and winding trail. The trail is paved with asphalt so serious hiking shoes are not a requirement. A lot of locals use the trail as a morning exersize routine, so don't be surprised if you see people running up this steep trail. A lot of people will also just the do the hike for the view and not go into the caves at the top. But if it is your first time here and you have already made it to the top you might as well go on the tour of the caves.

If you really want to make this a worthwhile hike, do yourself and favor and get up way before dawn and do the hike in the dark and watch the sunrise at the top of the mountains. One of the most breathtaking views you are going to see.

As a side note, to those who like Robert Redford, his place is just over on the other side of mountain at Sundance. I definitely recommend continuing your journey there.
