Go watch how cheese is made- Very educational. Delicious cheese samples also offered Dec 05, 2015
I have been here quite a few times with my family over the years, and always enjoyed it. It doesn't cost anything to get into the cheese factory which is great. When you walk in you can walk over to a viewing area. When you look down you can see tons of workers hard away at work making cheese. It's really fascinating to see how the cheese is actually made. As another reviewer mentioned it's a bit like watching animals at the zoo. There is a viewing area where you just view them through a glass window from up above. The best part about this place is that you can go cheese sampling. I love cheese so this is always a great treat. They have cheese that you can buy after sampling a bunch of their samples. I ended up buying some Tillamook poppy cheese. That's what I call it. I'm not sure of the exact name. I think they might be called cheese curds. They are the best cheese I have ever tasted. They make a popping sound when you bite into them. This place is a really fun, interesting place to visit. 5 stars

Cheese, cheese, more cheese and ice cream! Oct 12, 2014
Tillamook Cheese Factory is a farmer owned factory that's been in existance over 100 years and make a full line of various dairy products.

Open every day, the factory tour is free and self guided though as we were there on a weekend there wasn't much happening on the factory floor to watch.

There are free cheese samples before you enter the food portion of the factory where you can buy the various Tillamook products as well as many different Oregon products. We of course tried and enjoyed the cheese. The ice cream counter is also available to buy scoops.

I wouldn't go out of my way to drive to the factory but if you are touring down, or up, the Oregon coast it is definitely worth a stop.

Ice-cream and cheese from the source Jul 06, 2012
This is one of the favorites places to go for visitors of Tillamook. This factory actually packages the loaves of cheese as well as the cheese curds that we all enjoy around the country. They opened it up for everyone to view and self tour. The factory workers are kind of like animals in a zoo the way people watch them, but it is also very educational.

Most people come for the ice-cream through. That is what we usually do when we pass by. It is what I would call average/expensive but it is more the experience than the price. There is also food there, of course using Tillamook products.

We stopped with my sister and her family and the kids always love it. I should have got a kids cone for them. The one scoop regular is way too much for a child.

Got milk? Make cheese! Aug 01, 2010
Ok... so I LOVE cheese! So visiting a cheese factory is always a highlight for me! I was impressed with the Tillamook Factory... very tasteful (and tasty) :) So this clean facility offers a panoramic view of the cheese making process... an entire buffet of cheese samples.... a cool gift shop where you can buy anything from food to die cast cars... plus did I mention no charge for admission? Well worth the time and it's free!!!!!
