Tien Hiang Paris Reviews
Tien Hiang doesn’t preach and deliver what their menu tells Jun 30, 2014
N48°52.205' E2°22.129' The rue Bicat is empty except in front of Tien Hiang. People queue outside to be seated inside while other restaurants stay empty. Is this a good sign? Inside, this Chinese, vegetarian and Asian fusion restaurant borrowed the modern stylish interior from the former owner. Not what you expect entering a Chinese restaurant, but restaurants are all about food, so does Tien Hiang delivers in this strange interior setting?
In the English menu, with the well-known numbers in front, it's all about their vision on vegetarian food. Vegan dishes are no problem either. The menu doesn't offer alcoholic beverages.
Looking around we noticed Chinese beer bottles on tables and some dishes next to us in this very tiny restaurant contained probably meat. This was confirmed when the waiter asked it we would like tofu or chicken. Out went the vegetarian and vegan vision on food.
We ordered a tofu dish (tofu santé à la citronella) and a hot plate (tofu grille sur plaque chauffante) with vermicelli. It tasted but not special. Visiting so many places in Asia ourselves and regularly eating in Chinese restaurants in Europe, we were unimpressed by the taste of this food. More disappointed, actually.
We think this restaurant lost its belief and food quality after putting the Tripadvisor sticker on the door and hordes of tourist entered. Not really recommended.
