Chinese place of worship Oct 23, 2011
The Tian Tan Buddha is a MUST see attraction. Its very beautiful and very tranquil. You must climb a long flight of stairs before rweaching the base of teh Buddha where you can go inside into the museum. As you walk in there is another flight of stairs leading to a restaurant at the top. you can purchase the tickets when you enter the museum. Around the base of the Buddha you can see stunning views of Lantau Island. Its absoloutly beautiful and is most definitly worth visiting.

Big Buddha Up Close!! Apr 26, 2011
We headed off to see the Giant Buddha, which is on an island about an hour and a half from the centre of Hong Kong. Following the luck we’ve had in Asia so far, it lashed rain as soon as we got to Buddha, and didn’t stop at all. The rain was torrential and made seeing anything really difficult. However, Buddha is very impressive, and from what we could see of the scenery, its set in an amazing landscape.

one of the largest Buddha statues in the world Jun 16, 2010
A day like this is not recommended to visit the big Buddha statue at Ngong Ping. It takes you some ten minutes to walk all the stairs up to the statue and I just saw silhuettes of the statue.

The statue itself is 26,4 meter high in bronze and the weight of it is 202 tonnes. On the podium there are six statues and on the second level there is a small museum. The information however is only in Cantonese. I got a priority entrance due to my meal-ticket from the vegetarian restaurant in the Monestary.

i love lantau island. it is a nice getaway from hongkong. Tian Tan Buddha is so impressive..u can see it when u get off from the cable car. only negative thing that dissapoints me, is seeing Starbucks (all other modern shops) in such a mystic island..

Visiting Big Buddha Nov 23, 2010
This was probably my favorite part of the trip. I was staying near Hong Kong Station, so i caught the MTR all the way to Tung Chung station. From there, you catch the lift upto the top of the mountain. Make sure that you get the full glass one, not only because its so amazing, but also because you will save 2 hours on the way back. The lineup for getting down on the mountain if you had purchased the regular lift was about 2 hours i would say, while the glass one was only 30-40 mins. Also you can hike up there if that is what you like to do, to the top of the montain and take the lift back down.
