It sits on Lake Superior's huge Thunder Bay across which you can see the Sleeping Giant Mountain. With a little imagine you can see the outline of a figure lying down against the skyline. It was a port of entry before sailing on down the wilderness island strewn coast of Ontario.Thunder Bay is a city of just under 120,000 and is a great lakes & world shipping port boasting several grain elevators in the harbour. Main industries are shipping, pulp & paper fdrestry related, Bombardier, retail and local manufacturing.


Northern Ontario is truly a nature lovers paradise with pristine lakes and rivers, endless forests and rocky cliffs and mountains. Within a couple hours driving distance of the city are hundreds of lakes and rivers, many highly rated provincial parks and other campgrounds that allow you to enjoy the outdoors.
