Three River Historical Society & Museum Three Rivers Reviews
a true gem May 31, 2013
It is a very nice place to stop on your way up to the Sequoia National Park.
We stopped by to grab a map for our hiking trip to the Lady Bug Trail.
The historical society and museum was established in 1991 by a number of people within the Three Rivers area. Their aim is to preserve the history of the town from the Native Americans, through the cattlemen and logging industry up to the present time.
The Three Rivers Historical Society & Museum is a small but ideal place for education and awareness through the collected, preserved and displayed materials relating to the region.
We had lots of fun browsing and ogling through the vast collections of all kinds of antique memorabilia from olden time cameras to antique dental chair to logging equipment, etc.
The museum does not attract many people to stop by but once inside, it’s a pretty amazing little museum. Aside from the display of collections, they also hold different events. When we were there the historical society is sponsoring a Jazz Music Festival – which is free admission too.
If you need to use the internet before driving up to Sequoia NP, this place offers a free wifi service. They have rest rooms open to public. Also you can grab all kinds of travel materials from brochures to maps, etc.
The guy who was manning the museum during our visit is very nice and accommodating!
If you are visiting Sequoia National Park or Mineral King National Park, make sure you stop by into this hidden gem of the Sierra foothills!
