3 Forests Greenbelt, Ecuador May 23, 2011
‘Three Forests Trail,’ a new adventure trail, which serves as a a ‘greenbelt’, connecting 3 separate reserves (Lalo Loor, Green Monkey and Jama-Coaque). The Three Forests Trail was modeled after the Great Walks of New Zealand, and as such offers a 4-day, 3-night hike through the three separate local forest ecosystems of Dry Tropical, Pre-Montane and Cloud Forests. The trail was built using the Pacific Crest Trail guidelines, therefor, the path is clear and gently sloped, giving you plenty of time to acclimatize while spotting toucans, parrots, Capuchin and Howler monkeys and tarantulas, as well as amazing tree species like Secropia, Rubber and Strangler Fig. A new sustainable tourism project developing in Ecuador. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
