Thon Hotel Spectrum Oslo

Oslo is a ridiculously expensive city, where a "cheap" hotel room will easily run you $150 USD per night. The Thon Spectrum Hotel was about the cheapest I could find in Oslo, but it proved to be a very nice hotel.

The Scandinavian design-inspired room was modern and spacious, with beautiful hardwood floors and stylish closets. The beds were some of the most comfortable I've experienced in Europe. The room was spotless and spacious, with a generous sitting area. Bathroom was also spotless, roomy, and the water pressure was excellent! Water was hot in a hurry!

The lobby area is stylish and cool. Several computers are available for guest use, although wireless Internet access is available for free in all guest rooms. Front desk employees speak excellent English.

Great location about two blocks from the central train station (Oslo S). The hotel is at the end of a pedestrian street, where there are many restaurants, pubs, convenience stores, and shops. Many of the restaurants and pubs are open late at night, making it very convenient for hotel guests to grab a drink or bite to eat before bed.

The only negatives:

-- Because this is one of the cheaper hotels in Oslo, there were a lot of young kids staying there (17-23 years old). This can potentially be noisy, though I didn't notice any commotion.
