I also lived in Puerto Rico and can give some tips on San Juan. The El Morro Fortress is a must. It is free (if I remember correctly) and has great views along with important history. The streets of Old San Juan have a very magical feel and there are many great restaurants as well. Condado is a ritzy, but beautiful area with nice beaches and alot of hotels. If you are a surfer, Rincon (on the west coast of Puerto Rico) is some of the best surf in the world. El Yunque rainforest is the only rainforest in the caribbean and is a great place to visit. I can give more advice, just let me know!

After breakfast at Denny's and waiting for the rain to stop in order for us to get to the car we made our way to Old San Juan. Enid, my darling… Exploring Old San Juan on foot |

All things considered, scoring the plane ride seemed less painful (Fajardo is probably 30 miles from San Juan and we had previously been alerted about cab fares). Things were auspicious as we located the Vieques Air Link (VAL) counter and a youngster sporting a Corona… Getting to Vieques |

which is kind of a dirty thing, I guess! We eventually left Tantra and headed for the Water Club in Isla Verde which would have been a cool bar had it actually been open. There were all these white lounge couches and a pool on a rooftop bar, not to mention… Fuimos a Puerto Rico por dos días sin maletas! |
