One of the smallest and quietest capital cities I've ever seen. Has a mountain retreat feel to it. I use the only internet cafe in town and learn that the internet only came to the country a few years ago.

After breakfast at the hotel, Kemcho and Tashi picked us up for the long drive out of Phobjikha Valley and back to the capital of Thimphu. We did at least stop at the site above the pretty valley and snap some photos of the temple with the deserted valley and mountains in the background. Since Kemsho re-opened up last night, Cindy finally got the nerve to ask about the abundan...

My father planned this trip so that we would have the opportunity to see one of the Tsechus (religious festival) at a Dzong (city fortress). Three words: riot of color. The fortresses are not historical buildings- they are still used in everyday life. Day 2 was spent watching the last day of the Tshechu festival in the Tashichodzong. Translated means we saw the last day of a hella cool festival in one of the largest temples in Bhutan. The festival was amazing and was full of traditional dances and costumes. Apparently the dancers are in trances when they are performing which seemed pretty true, especially for the skeleton dance. This is where we spent all morning and a good portion of the afternoon. As the festival was nearing I headed off...
