Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman said the incident was very rare and Sabah Parks had explained that it was not jellyfish season. He said this was why the organization had not put up warning signboards. Jang Ga-Yool,who was on a three-day holiday to Sabah with her parents, died after being stung by a jellyfish while playing in shallow waters on Pulau Sapi at about 9am on Monday. She was pulled out of the water by lifeguards but was declared dead on arrival at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The grieving father, who did not want his name published, told reporters through an interpreter that he did not blame anyone for the incident. "I am not blaming anybody. It has happened. "But,I am disappointed that in a place heavily visited by tourists, there was not even one medical officer around to give immediate aid to stop the venom from spreading in my daughter," he said. ************************************************************************ *Jellyfish season here: October -- December. Don't touch the tentacles with your bare hands. You can use things like tweezers. *Seek medical attention immediately Note: Vinegar is not recommended for Portuguese Man-of-War stings. Getting stung by a jellyfish on the eyes, face, mouth, or genitals requires urgent evaluation by a doctor. *Emergency Phone Numbers* 999 emergency number Or Sabah Medical Centre : 088 – 211 333 Sabah Medical Centre's Accident & Emergency Unit: 24 Hours Tel: 088 - 322 199 Address: Sabah Medical Centre, Lorong Bersatu, Off Jalan Damai, Luyang, 88300 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Website: http://www.sabahmedicalcentre.com/ If you’re calling from a mobile here, you must add 088 infront of the number.
