Savile Row Tailor Bangkok Jun 14, 2008
His label may not be as well-known as Versace or Paul Smith, but with over two million customers across the world, Arunroj Singh alias Aron has lots of reasons to smile. From Thai PMs to Norwegian parliamentarians, Sri Lankan cabinet ministers to Russian astronauts, star golfers to top bankers, this Bangkok-based tailor has quite an assorted clientele.

This ‘pravasi’ Indian’s competitive prices and prompt delivery make him one of the most sought-after tailors. He has offices in Milan, London, Zurich, Oslo, New York, et al. He takes orders online and delivers them within 12 to 24 hours, no matter where. Interestingly, he also offers free transportation
The prices are going to be about the same with some fluctuation but not a lot.

Excelsior Tailor Inexpensive tailor experience in Bangkok Oct 23, 2008
Bangkok has an absolute army of tailors, and the city is rightly famed for being able to stitch-up top quality suits, at bottom dollar prices. The best Bangkok tailors range from backstreet dives to fine boutiques in five-star hotels,
After staying over 5 years in Bangkok few tips for visiting Bangkok tailors would be:-
Don't fall for cheap packages or special deals advertised in glossy brochures advertising a suit, a pair of trousers and two shirts for, say, US$ 95. Chances are good you'll end up paying much more than what you wanted to and having to settle for inferior quality if that is available for the price.
If you don't know where to go, your hotel should be able to give you a few pointers. Many of the bigger hotels also have a reliable, good quality service on the premises for tailor-made clothing.
To save time and energy, and if you have a specific design in mind, make sure you arrive at the tailor's equipped with something for them to copy.
Unless you really don't have anything to wear or are pressed for time, the ready-in-24-hours option should be avoided. Bear in mind that proper tailoring does require time and patience to ensure desirable results.
Expect at least two to three fittings (the first to take your measurements, and one or two fitting sessions) to get your suit looking just the way you want it.
Excelsior being famous amongst my work people so i usually get suits done there.
Excelsior may not receive the publicity of some of its more PR driven competitors, but they remain a firm favorite amongst the Bangkok expats and locals alike. The Bangkok expats are a demanding lot and will easily take their money elsewhere, the fact that so many choose to keep their custom with Excelsior is testament to the reliable and consistent service they offer.

Savile Row suits review Jan 29, 2009
Out of many Bangkok tailors, you will find the legendary Savilerow in a chic hotel or sleek mall. But don't be fooled. These digs in humble, a tailoring hub, have hosted everyone from U.S. Embassy to soccer stars, movies stars , commissioners such as the Peter Thorn, elija woods, and Michael Di Rhodes. This former uniform tailor to the Bangkok hotel staffs. These tailors also make annual trips to Europe and North America. (Schedule updates are listed on the Web site).

About two months ago, I went to visit Savile Row Clothiers, the travelling Bangkok tailors who happened to be one of the few with Newyork on their itinerary. I wanted to give them a shot to see if they would be a cheaper alternative to my tailor here in New york for basic items. I made a post about it, and a few people PM'd me asking for a review of the clothes once I received them because they were also thinking of using this service. This morning I woke up to find a snow covered box on my doorstep with Savile Row Clothiers printed across the top. So here's my review:

Fabric: The selection of fabrics of available through Savile Row clothiers is quite extensive in terms of swatches available, For my experiment, I decided to go with a basic black with grey pine fabric which was Super 130's, but struck me as an average quality fabric in terms of appearance, softness, etc. Normally suits start at $150, but the one I selected was $350.

The fitting: I went to their store at Rose hotel where it was crammed with people looking through swatch books and waiting in line to get fitted. I decided to remove a little bit of the guesswork by bringing my favorite fitting jacket and pants, a Hugo Boss Eagle jacket. I asked the tailor to use my measurements, but recreate the fit of those items as much as possible, which is quite trim. He happily measured me and my garments and made adjustments for where he thought my garments needed to be tweaked. He even measured the proportions of the lapels to make sure they were spot on.

The results:

Nine months on from my first Savile Row suit, I had tried six suits from other avenues before returning. I was very happy with my first Savile Row suit. But I wanted to make sure, before becoming a life-long subscriber to the Row, that I was completely comfortable in my justification for doing so. I didn’t want to live at the apex of personal tailoring for any pretence of grandeur. I would only want to subscribe to the Row if it provided the best value for money.

I decided to return to the same Savile Row tailor. I wanted to test the theory that developing a relationship with one tailor would be of increased value in all subsequent suits. I hoped that continuing with the same tailor would allow him to assess his first suit and make improvements with the second. I am delighted to report that this is exactly what happened.

I was surprised at home critical the tailor was of his first suit. I had arrived with a list of points which I wanted to address. He addressed each of my six points and two more which I had not thought of and couldn’t have then understood.

I was also delighted to be informed that the tailor had since updated his pattern. The meant a slightly slimmer upper arm, slimmer middle-leg and slightly longer torso. I think this a very good and reassuring sign.

The quite unexpected bonus, was that after the improvements for my second suit had been agreed, the tailor offered to take my first suit away and have it altered to reflect all of the agreed improvements. I was delighted!

Further to this thread, I am very pleased with my choice of suiting and lining. I think I definitely made the right choice.

If anyone has any questions about the suit, a beginner’s experience of Savile Row, or of personal tailoring in general, then please drop me a line any time. I would be pleased to hear from you.

Thank you.

Happy experience at Tailor Pro Nov 22, 2008
I were in BKK recently to tailor our shirts and suits,Tailor Pro fashion tailored our clothes. This is my fourth tailor; I have tried brioni, tony fashion , boss fashion and one more at phuket.

If you are looking for good stuff at reasonable price, Tailor pro fashion is the right place. The sales person was really interested in making you feel welcome. After few minutes of looking around the shop.I expressly instructed him to incorporate French cuffs for my 5 shirts. In fact, I requested him to add my initials to the French cuffs as he dint charge me any single baht per shirt.

In short, if you are a big spender (20 to 30 shirts onwards), by all means, go to Tailor PRo. He might even give you a good package deal.

Lousy Tailor - SKD Suit Apr 18, 2008
I had a few shirts done in SKD Suit early this year. The tailor shop is located on the 3rd floor of MBK. Actually, they have a chain of tailor shops spread out in MBK. Worksmenship is inconsistent and fabrics suck.

Most of the fabrics are super flimsy despite the tailor claimed that all are 100% Egyptian cotton. Fabric lost its smoothness and shine after a few washs. As the shirts are made to be body hugging (slim fit), they are subject to stretching. I notice sign of tearing at the joint areas (on the back) after a few wears. As mentioned, worksmen are inconsistent. Notice that button and button hole above the cuff are not inline.

Pants are no better if not worst. When I sit and stretch the pant, my pearl white flesh can be clearly seen at the joint (tight area). These pants do not come cheap ard 4000 Bhat for 2.

Never believe in those "salesmen" that disguise as tailor. They are more interested in producing factory std shirts then tailoring to your specific requirements.

After surviving in Bangkok for over a year now, it has slowly come to my attention that poor tourists are being scammed and are losing good money to the cheaters. Several tailor shops scam tourists along with the tuk tuk drivers or even taxi drivers. Many of my friends and me myself has been through this little "cheat" trick by the tailors and I think its time to put an end to it. If you're coming to Bangkok to get clothes tailored, heres some tips you need to look out for:

1 - Do not as a tuk tuk driver where to go for a tailors

2 - Do not use a tuk tuk driver as your mode of transportation

3 - Do not buy from the shops that offer super cheap deals

4 - Do not buy from the shop that says fittings are not a must

5 - Do research online for recommended shops that people have used succesfully

6 - Lastly, spend a little more, you will get yourself a better suit.

A tailor shop that was recommended to me and I now use is Crown Tailors in Sukhumvit soi 8. No scams, no false pretenders and very friendly staff and service offered.
