The harbor display of the Chinese New Year Kowloon Reviews
Great and fabulous colors Jan 21, 2012
One of the more striking displays in celebrating the Chinese New Year in Hong Kong was the display of colorful rice lamps near the Ferry Terminal of Kowloon and the between the Kowloon Public Pier and Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
The first time I walked by the rice lamp figures I thought it was a children’s playground; from distance it was impossible to see that these were lamps. One thing that I quite fast understood was the beauty of the colors and this only during the day.
In the evening these figures were even more impressive. I have no concrete knowledge about the symbolism but I think that it has to do with the different Chinese years. The biggest figure on display was a huge Chinese Dragon.
