The gathering Hamar Reviews
Dec 07, 2007
The Gathering (TG) is one of the largest computer gatherings in the world. Here, 5200 computer enthusiasts meet for a somewhat unusual celebration of the Easter Holiday. TG has been around for 15 years, with this being the 11th year in a row it’s being held in Vikingskipet in Hamar.
The Gathering is the result of a challenge. After some more or less justified complaints aimed at other computer parties, the organizers of TG received the challenge: “If you think it looks that easy, why don’t you make a computer party yourself?”
Rising to the challenge, after a year or so of zealous preparations, The Gathering saw the first light of day in 1992.
Although Norway isn’t particularly large, we have, in the last few years, been able to create one of the world’s leading computer gatherings. From the very beginning in 1992, TG has been an impressive computer gathering, attracting loads of participants.
It didn’t take many years before TG could compete on the international arena, able to boast with the title “World’s Largest Computer Gathering”. For many years TG was superior in size, but in recent years that title has been passing back and fourth between TG and the Swedish “Dreamhack”.
TG is so much more than just a computer gathering, friendships are being born , love is in the air and the more grown up community goes and and drinks during the nights.
