On the top of a hill looking out over the city of Kandy you’ll find a giant Buddha statue. It’s part of a small temple complex with a few room for offering and different statues in them.
The main reason to go up the hill to the giant Buddha is the view of Kandy. Even from the ground level you’ll have a great view of the city - but as you move up to the top of the statue the view is getting better. You’ll see all f the city and lake with the famous Temple of the Tooth.
You can walk up to the statue on foot from the centre of Kandy or you can take a tuktuk - it’s a short ride hence a tuktuk shouldn’t be too expensive. The entry fee to the temple is 200 rupees for foreigners plus you’ll need to pay the man at the shoe keeper building as well.
There is a back entrance to the temple - if you use this one you can probably save the entrance fee.
