The beach at Tybee Island Reviews
Eh, it's just OK, I know what the buzz is about, but it's really just OK Aug 22, 2010
Tybee Island isn't too far from Savannah, but once you're there, it feels quite isolated. Even the drive to get there makes you feel like you are driving to no where.
The beach is a nice place to relax, walk along the shore and pick up seashells and the water can be fairly warm, but I can't tolerate water north of Miami. If I can't see my feet when I'm standing in the water, I don't really wanna go in it. if you want to vegatate on a chair in the sand or watch your kids play in the surf, this is a fine beach. Otherwise, eh!
The parking can be a beast though. From 8 in the morning to 8 at night, 365 days a year, it is enforced. An hour will cost you a buck-50. If you have a car, it's worth the drive if you dont expect to see anything marvelous. If you want somewhere to relax and just chill, bring some chairs and food and stare out into the sea.
