The Zambezi Waterfront Lodge Livingstone Reviews
Great location and decent prices Oct 14, 2011
The Zambezi Riverside Lodge is located right on the shores of the mighty Zambezi river, opposite Siloka Island, about 10 km from the town of Livingstone.
It is a nice lodge, which offers both chalets and tents. The pool, bar and restaurant patio literally hang over the edge of the river. The view couldn´t be better. A wonderful place to have dinner while watching the sunset on the Zambezi. They also have their own riverboats for sunset cruises right from their private dock.
The chalets are scattered around in a lush garden with a pond and plenty of trees, which homes vervet monkeys. The rooms are spacious with two very comfortable single beds with mosquito nets, a desk a kettle, a fridge and a safe. There was no TV, but who needs that in a lovely place like the Zambezi. There was also plenty of space for luggage. Because of the climate, it would have been nice to have AC or a fan!
The bathroom was tiled, had a walk-in shower with plenty of hot and cold water. The water pressure was great. Both the room and bathroom were nice and clean.
The restaurant serves an buffet breakfast. During the day and night they offer a menu with starters, salads, burgers, wraps, fish, chicken and crocodile. I just had to try the croc burger - pretty chewy stuff! One day we came back from our morning activities just too late for the breakfast buffet. That was not a problem. After a short wait the kitchen had cooked us a big English breakfast.
The adventure company Safpar has their main office on the second floor in the lodge, which makes it very easy to book a variety of activities. Next to Safar´s office is an internet room, so if you need to stay in touch with the rest of the world, there you can do it.
I have stayed at the Zambezi Waterfront Lodge twice and both times have been a very good stay. The only thing I can complain about is that both stays have been too short. I can highly recommend the Zambezi Waterfront Lodge. If you triple the price you can upgrade to a stay next door, at the David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa, It´s run by the same company as the Zambezi Riverside Lodge.
