good hostle Sep 10, 2012
the yellow is pretty cool. The best thing is that it is central and within walking distance to pretty much everything plus metro, there is a bar underneath, so pretty easy to meet fellow travelleres. The rooms are solid, nothing special, however it did get cold at night and there was no heat. The breakfast included is pretty standard. The team of yellow is pretty helpful. Overall, if you are in the mood to meet new people and be close to everything - this is the place for you in rome

Very, Very Fun Jul 16, 2011
While visiting Rome for the second time I got to stay at this hostel/hotel. It was a great time and I met a lot of fun people. It's pretty much all 20-30 year old tourists. The staff are super friendly and the drinks at the bar are STRONG. You have to try the Chuck Norris drink. It will put you on your ass....LITERALLY. great place to meet people. airconditoning!! Apr 04, 2011
This place was walking distance to the main train station in rome. it was also a short walk from the metro. I highly recommend this place because it is one of the few hostels in italy that provide air conditioning which is crucial!! there's also a great bar downstairs where you can meet other ppl staying at the hostel who you can hang with. met lots of great people!!

Clean but crowded Feb 16, 2011
I stayed at the yellow in Rome, Italy. The hostel was very fun with good food and a great bar setup downstairs. I say stay here if you are trying to save $ otherwise get a hotel because the walls are thin and everytime a door slams you can here it! lol!

AWESOME!!!!! May 05, 2009
This place was fantastic. The first night I arrived I decided to go on the hostels pub crawl. I have yet to go to another hostel which has their own pub crawl. Maybe its more popular than I think but I haven't come across one again. The people there are really nice, they speak a wide range of languages, so its easy enough to understand them no matter where your from. The bar next door it the same with the languages. The bar next door is where you have breakfast too. Its not free but its at a good price because its discounted for the guests of Yellow :) The menus change each month so if you were to go there again the chances are that you wouldn't have the same breakfast twice, unless maybe you ordered it but that would mean having to pay more lol.

There is also free Wi-Fi that you can use either in your room, id reception or even in the bar next door. If you dan't have your own laptop you are able to use their laptops. They give you half an hour a day free. Apparently they charge you if you go over that 30 minutes but I know I was on the laptop for almost an hour in one session and they didn't charge mw extra.

If you have really heavy bags and you would rather not go up maybe five flights of stairs there's a lift :D (happy days) its also handy when you too drunk to walk up the stairs :P

A Cheap but Funky and Friendly Hostel Jan 11, 2009
This histel is located close to termini bus/train station.

It is a cheap hostel with dorm beds. Each room has up to 6 people staying in them per night. It is possible to book a room with a private bathroom for a few extra Euros. I did this for the first night here, but not the second. I personally would recommend the cheaper option of not having the private bathroom. There are plenty of shared showers and toilets, so you won't be waiting long, if a all, to use the shared facilities. The other disadvantage of the private bathroom is the level of noise. You'll be sharing a room with 5 others and believe me the noise will wake those non-early starters.

The hostel is very friendly and staff are extremely helpful. There is a locked baggage storing room if you make it there before check in time or need to store bags after check out time and the reception is 24 hr.

The funky silhouettes (e.g. Al Capone, Samulel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction etc) make a pleasant ambience for the traveller.

The bunk beds are comfortable and clean sheets are given on arrival (or after check in time). It was certainly worth the 12 Euro fee to stay there.

Another point to note is the neighbouring Yellow bar. This serves cheap breakfasts at a very pleasing discount to hostel guests and the bar provides very cheap drinks and a good games room to ahng out in with fellow backpackers. If you've got a drinking head on, try the "Chuck Norris Roundhouse kick to the Face" - that'll help you!

Enjoy your stay

This hostel is trendy as far as hostels go. It has a great cafe/bar area where you can sit and use the free laptop and wireless internet services, the drinks are cheap however i found that the atmosphere was lacking. The people that were there were obviously all part of travel groups and not really there to meet new people. I find the common room areas are the best to meet new people and make travel connections however, here it was just not possible. Maybe i caught a bad couple of days though. I found as well, that because i only had 3 days in Rome, I was packing a lot in so by the time i got back to the hostel at night i was pretty tired and not up for the "pub-crawl" scene - however if that is what you are into it seems that they have a pretty active one and those that i did talk to seemed to enjoy it.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. My booking was messed up some how and i ended up having to switch rooms each night for the four night stay which was a real pain, however i think i stayed in every type of room available. My advice is not to shell out for the more expensive rooms. the 6 person dorms are essentially all the same, however there are ones with the shower right in the room, which to me is not really that much more convinent and there is the added hassle of having to take your towel etc, into the shower. The toilet is also right in the room, which again, can be annoying if someone is getting up constantly through the night and using it.

It was a good hostel and i would probably stay there again - I would just hope that they get my booking right this time!! Good location, easy walk to the train station and many sites.

Travelers generally give other travelers tips as to where to stay, and the person who told us about the Yellow Hostel is an angel! My sister and I stayed in the dorm rooms, and they were decent and safe. There is a 24/7 key card access to your rooms as well as to the building. There is a great kitchen and there are grocery stores close to the hostel (for those of you who are on cheap budgets!!).

My sister and I went on the IMPROV Jazz night event, which was amazing. I think that every Wednesday or Thursday they take you to a little hole in the wall where some of the local jazz musicians hang out. During the evening, someone sitting next to you will head up to the front with his or her instrument or voice and start playing or singing away. It was pretty amazing!

They also have tours which go around the city of Roma. My sister and I took two of them, and I highly recommend them!! :)

I and three university friends travelled to this hostel for four nights in Easter 2005. The hostel was a great place to go, especially as we had little experience in hostelling. With friendly staff, the rooms were modest but comfortable, the fellow guests were well-natured and generally it was clean and well-organized. Although apparently there was not that much to do in the hostel, there was a lounge, a good number of internet-ready PCs and a decent kitchen. To make up for any shortcomings, there were plenty of fun and helpful activities to get involved in and to help meet new people. It was also very well situated, so that most of the ancient sites of interest were not a long walk away, and there were plenty of restaurants, shops and cafes nearby. I plan to return to Rome, and when I do, Yellow Hostel will be my first point of call for accomodation!

During both of my trips through rome this past summer, i stayed at this hostel located just north of termini. It really is a great place to stay - large bedrooms, lockers, keycard access, decent sized kitchen, good social atmosphere, and five computers with free internet, and of course, a friendly staff. The best part however, was the free breakfast - it was buffet style at a cafe downstairs and i was unable to find a better free breakfast in my travels. The bathroom on my floor was a little small - but it did have two toilets, showers, and sinks. I am unsure if ensuite rooms are availible, as i only stayed in the dorms during my visits.
