This place is actually not in the CITY of Monterey, but in Moss
Landing. It's right off the freeway, and you can't miss it. There's a huge sign and a boat out front. There were free&fresh tortilla chips with this deliciously spicy salsa that comes in a little vase/jar. We ordered the fried artichokes, which is a must-have if you go to Monterey. It was just $7, and with the chips, a total bargain! I don't know how they did it, but the artichokes were perfectly fried and tender - not stringy or tough at all! The waitstaff was also excellent and attentive, with smiles all around, even though we didn't order much.  Part of the Monterey 04.20.06 travel blog
