Very basic hotel in convenient location May 31, 2011
This is a fairly basic hotel near Victoria station. I suppose I shouldn´t complain after paying just 70pounds for a hotel so near to Victoria station but it really wasn´t very appealing. It felt more like a big hostel than a hotel. The furnishing and decoration were old and depressing. There was a TV but no kettle for making tea. There was no en-suite bathroom, although the communal toilet was clean and modern. The staff were pleasant enough and I was able to leave my bag there after checking out, without any hassles or problem. I had breakfast which was okay but terrible coffee. Sausages weren´t bad, I suppose. It´s probably about 15 mins from Victoria Station, in a rather dark street. I would say this is a hotel for short stays when you need to be near Victoria station.

The Wellington - A hotel...or hostel? May 23, 2008
The Wellington is part of the nearby college and during the summers the turn the dorms into a "hotel" When looking for it on a map it's easiest to find the Westminster School Playing Field, the hotel is right across the street backing up to Rochester Row. I qualify that a bit because it's still a dorm. My room had a small sink, a television that had a cable which barely maintained connection to the wall (making static a part of the experience) We didn't watch TV much so it wasn't too distracting. The room was clean and there weren't any weird dorm smells like some would expect.

The bathrooms weren't dirty, but they were old. There were several shower stalls and I never had to wait in line for a toilet or shower. The hotel provided towels and soap.

If I remember right internet access was $1 per hour.

There was an attendant available 24 hours so we never had to worry about getting back to the hotel at a certain time. As with most European hotels they asked that you return your key when you were leaving the building. The staff was very professional and helpful. They directed us to a great Indian restaurant right across the street.

The price was 70 pounds each night for two of us. Compared to some of the accommodations we found later in the trip that felt a little expensive. Many other places had en suite bathrooms (the bathroom is in the hotel room) for a similar price.

The location isn't bad at all. The Westminster/Victoria area is nice and it was easy to walk to Parliament, Buckingham Palace, and the Victoria Tube Station. You walk right past Scotland Yard on the way to Big Ben and the Westminster Abby.

While I would recommend this hotel, I wouldn't highly recommend it.

Most dirty hotel ever Sep 04, 2008
So, the Wellington Hotel, London. What to say, what to say...

If you're looking for a cheap ass hotel in pricey London, on a relatively good location, the Wellington is pretty much the answer of that what you are searching for.

The room got a bed, a TV, a closet, a window with view on the gardens or Vincent Square. But everything is so old, so dusty, so disgusting. The sink in the room was brown, there were huge dustlayers everywhere. You had to share bathrooms and toilets. If you were unlucky, as us, and you were on the other side of the isle, you had to walk a distance to the bathroom. Which was the most disgusting ones i've ever seen. I recommend you bring along some slippers! Paintpieces were falling of the walls, the walls of the showers were so nasty.

I can handle some dirt, and sometimes it can have it charmes if the hotel or room is a bit old. But this is the limit, for a city of London, I expect a lot more.
