What a view! Jun 10, 2012
My tour guide suggested the Viewpoint - and we didn't take the recommendation lightly, as he had recommended many other that weren't exactly what we had anticipated. Anyway, we had a spare morning s thought that we would give it a try.

Koh Phi Phi Don is a tiny island which you'll notice as soon as you arrive (there's not a car in sight - it's so small you don't need them). So it's very easy to find your way to the Viewpoint as you'll see the signs pointing you in the right direction anyway on the Island.

There is now a charge to go up to the Viewpoint but from what I can remember it's only about 10 baht or so, so it won't break the bank. I wont repeat what other people have said in terms of the different viewpoints etc, but it's definitely worth it.

A word of advice, try to go either side of the hottest times of the day, otherwise, you'll suffer, a lot!

It's worth it! Mar 08, 2011
Get a bottle of water and begin to 'climb' the island. It takes maybe 1 hour and half to get up there but it really worths it. You'll find monkeys and a marvellous view of what remains after the tsunami. Actually the way to the viewpoint is the same way to escape from the tsunami. The pat run uphill and there are loads of steps, so i'd suggest to wear trainers and to have drinks!

If you visit Thailand, make sure you lock in a visit to Phi Phi Island. Phi phi offers the most breathtaking views, sandy white beaches and a buzzing nightlife. Phi phi offers the best of Thailand without the commercialiaztion of other cities. Make sure you hire a boat for next to nothing and visit the neigbouring islands

Worth a look Feb 15, 2010
You probably have read about it in Lonely Planet, but the viewpoint does provide excellent view of Koh Phi Phi Don. It's ideal for pictures and it provides a nice break from beach time or excursions.

There are signs for actually 3 viewpoints once you begin the hike. Viewpoint 1 isn't worth a stop, as you can go just a little higher and see the same thing with less tree coverage. There is also a viewpoint 3, which, unless I missed something, doesn't offer anything special except access to a few other beaches on the other side of the island.

It's of course free, which is nice, but if you didn't bring any water or snacks, there is a small shop at viewpoint 2.

if you're staying on phi phi don you'll be able to walk from your hotel..from the pier head back towards the restaurants and hotels..just keep walking back until you see the signs and the steps...its real easy to find...when in doubt, just ask someone
