Revolving Around After the Show - Post-Phantom of the Opera Matinee Jan 01, 2000
After you get all dressed up to see a fantastic show on Broadway, what else can you do to top off a totally romantic evening? You take your date to The View, New York City's only revolving restaurant, overlooking Times Square!
Yes, a bit on the pricey side...but it's The View you pay for! An easy walk from the Broadway Theatre District, The View offers New York State cuisine beyond compare! Our deserts even had chocolate Phantom of the Opera Masks! How apropos! We thoroughly enjoyed the view and the great Japanese business tourist at the adjacent table who volunteered to take photos with his own digital camera (he was very proud of) and give us a disk with the copies--all without speaking a word of English! The Jappanese are so kind and giving! The next time you visit New York and want to see something spectacular, you have to see The View! the most relaxing skyline tour in New York Jul 24, 2008
The View restaurant and lounge are situated on the top floors of the Mariott Marquis Hotel at Times Square, New York.
It is the only revolving roof top restaurant in New York and that alone is a good reason to visit the place. While having your drink or dinner the floor of the restaurant revolves slowly (taking about an hour for a full turn) thus giving you 360 degree views of the New York skyline. The restaurant offers quality food for a reasonable price, offering a choice for three-course dinners for a set price. The lounge has an even better deal in the form of an all-you-can-eat buffet, as well as an extensive cocktail menu, though the hefty cover charge may put you off. To get to The View you must ride a vertigo inducing glass elevator through the 45-floor atrium of the Marriott Marquis Hotel. Even if you aren't interested in a drink or meal at The View, this elevator in itself is actually one of the coolest free attractions in NYC. Part of the New York, New York travel blog |

The View is a Restaurant & Lounge located on the top of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. It is New York City’s only revolving roof top restaurant featuring NY state cuisine & wines. It is a unique experience. It revolves slowly and you won’t even notice it. It offers Breath taking view of New York City from ever angle. I recommend. I must add the drinks are a little pricy!

The perfect place to relax and get a bite to eat or a few drinks after an extensive tour of New York City. It's also great if you have a few hours to kill before going to a Broadway show. If you don't have reservations make sure you get to the lobby of the Marriott (right at Times Square) in time, because the best seats around the windows fill up quickly and you will have a hard time to get to the buffet once everyone is headed for it. You will have to take a special elevator to reach the floor with of this restaurant. The hotel staff is really nice and they will point you in the right direction. The ride up is already exciting if you ask me. Once you're up feast your eyes on the All-you-can-eat buffet. Save some room for dessert! It's heavenly!! Did I mention the chocolate fountain?? They have all sorts of different cheese cakes in almost bite size pieces so you can try a few different ones. There's also fruit to dip in the chocolate fountain.
The drinks are pricey and are not included in the buffet! None the less it's a great place to go. If you come here around 6ish you will be able to watch the sun go down if you stay long enough. The restaurant revolves around one time in about one hour. You have a pretty good view of the Chrysler Building and other architecture from up here. The napkins will give you some aid to what you are looking at. And if you leave after sun down you will get to see Times Square in all its glory! …long to wait for a ferry back to Manhattan and we managed to position ourselves right at the front of the boat for unobstructed views! The Statue of Liberty was difficult to photograph, as it was still quite a distance away. We will need to take the Ellis Island ferry another day for better views.
