The View from The Shard London Reviews
Stunning on high Nov 23, 2014
At £26, this could be considered a fairly expensive trip just to look out a window, but it is so worth it.
We went a bit upmarket and opted for a glass of champagne on our trip, bringing total ticket price to £32.95 each, but it was a nice treat so why not? I had booked it for the 5 o'clock entry, but we arrived at 4.30pm and were granted admission no problem. I chose this time as I knew it would be dark (winter!) and therefore we would see London at her best. During the day it can be a bit grey, especially with the rain we had all day! So this way we got to see the lovely lights (and a few extra as the Christmas lights were on).
Two lifts bring you to the 68th floor, then one flight of stairs to the viewing platform and bar on 69. It is all glass, all around, so there is plenty of room to see. Signs indicate what you can see from each window e.g. St Paul's, London eye etc.
Another few stairs bring you out in the night air on the 72nd floor. You're not actually outside, but part of the roof is open so it is cold (and raining the day we visited sadly). This floor was quieter so even better for viewing!
Highly recommended but do try to go when it is dark!
Oh, and don't forget to pay a visit to the "Loo with a view!"
