The Troy Lodge Basco Reviews
decent place for backpackers Jun 20, 2012
It’s a pretty decent place for backpackers or shoestring travelers.
The place is clean and well maintained.
In a safe location or neighborhood
Mrs. Abirella, the hostel owner is kind and very helpful. She is the wife of a former town mayor.
The rooms are all in the second floor of the house. It has a living room, dining room, kitchen and a communal bathroom. Toilet is clean but quite strange. Toilet paper is not provided so bring your own ;)
The living room has a t.v. set and an extra fan.
The kitchen has a small cooking stove, a fridge, dining & cooking utensils.
Rooms are air-conditioned. There is an option to use a fan and rate is cheaper. Rates for AC Rooms is PPh 400.00/night (US$10.00. Fan room is PPh300.00/night (US$7.50/night). The rates were from June last year (2012).
There is a wide and spacious veranda, a nice spot to hang out at night before going to bed.
Weak signal for Globe cellphones.
The owner is also managing retail or a convenient store for toiletries, bottled water, and first aid meds, snacks or simple meals like instant noodles or breads.
There is no internet connection in the hostel but there are internet cafes around for .30 cents (about 15 pesos or so) per hour.
I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to save their money.
