Mediocre food, lousy service. (Fuhgeddaboutit) Apr 22, 2011
Having read many favorable reviews and after meeting the owner on the beach, we looked forward to an excellent meal at Swede's. We were underwhelmed. I had fish with caviar sauce and while the fish was well prepared, the sauce was quite bland as were the accompaniments. My partner had the Swedish meatballs, which were exceptionally undistinguished. We did look forward to dessert, however, and were desultorily handed the list by the owner, who then promptly left to socialize with a clique of A-list friends at a nearby table. We waited thirty minutes, paid the check and left. I think that the owner, while affable and charming, should pay renewed attention to the quality of the food and service. With so many excellent dining possibilities in Puerto Vallarta, we certainly won't be back.

Ya, don't bother with it, Eric. Amapa Sunset, while a splurge, is worth every dollar. Also good and reasonably priced are JoeJacks, Polo and El Brujo. Fuego Bar & Bites, also in the Zona Romantica, is a stylish and cool place to hangout and has the best coffee in town.
