Excellent location with beautiful rooftop garden and very friendly staff Jun 07, 2012
The Surrey is a European style boutique hotel located in New York's Upper East Side adjacent to Central Park and only a few blocks from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is also the home of Daniel Boulud's Cafe Boulud and Bar Pleaides. The in-room dining menu comes from Cafe Boulud's kitchen and you can have cocktails made in your room by a personal bar tender. Cafe Boulud is also open for breakfast and Sunday brunch.

The bed was gigantic and one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. I loved the shower with its powerful nozzle. The rooms are spacious for New York City. We had a room on the 12th floor and it was amazingly quiet. The roof top (17th floor) garden and bar is also surprisingly quiet and was not at all crowded while we were there at 9 pm on a Saturday. The views are spectacular and it is a wonderful place to take in the afternoon sun.

Every staff person we had contact with was friendly, welcoming, personable and helpful. The service is top notch.

Experience life as a New Yorker living in upper east side of Central Park. May 19, 2012
For a decent price at the last minute, I had a chance to enjoy one of these luxury boutique hotel experiences in NYC. I used an Adroid phone App called "HotelTonight" to book the hotel for half the normal rate at the last minute(less than an hour before my check-in). With the location right in the heart of upper east side on 76th street between Madison and 5th Ave, it had great access to the Central park with less than a block to the park entrance and walking access to Lexington and 3rd Ave with many decent places to eat.

If you want to experience luxury homelike accommodation for a day or two while you are visiting NYC, I highly recommend trying out this hotel. You might get lucky like me if you want to try out your luck with Apps like "HotelTonight".

The Surrey Overview

Reinvented with a fresh approach to traditional luxury, The Surrey hotel on 76th at Madison Avenue suggests a sense of time and place, reflecting the best of its gracious neighborhood bordering Central Park.
The hotel offers 190 uncommonly elegant guest salons and suites, many with fireplaces, private terraces and small kitchens. Two specialty suites, the Presidential and the Penthouse, are exceptional choices for the most discriminating guest.
Hand-painted armoires, black lacquer desks with vanity compartments, oversized armchairs and walnut cabinetry give each of our salons and suites a unique sophistication that goes well beyond typical luxury accommodations. Guests will feel the tension of their day melt away on our exclusive Duxiana beds serenely outfitted with Sferra linens and a personal pillow choice. The spacious bathrooms indulge the senses with white Carrera marble, Waterworks rain shower heads, Pratesi robes and custom-designed bath amenities by Laura Tonatto of Milan.
Beyond the salons and suites, a host of luxuries await guests. The first in the city of its kind, the Spa at The Surrey takes service and personal privacy to the next level with private suites and fully customizable treatments.
While the famed Cafe Boulud serves breakfast, lunch and dinner just off the lobby, the hotel is also honored to have this Michelin-starred restaurant curate their in-room dining and new Bar Pleiades.
Perched peacefully on the 17th floor overlooking the Upper East Side and Central Park, the rooftop garden at The Surrey is a true oasis. A tranquil, elegant setting for relaxing or for business entertaining, the garden also features exclusive service from Cafe Boulud for beverages, light meals and anything else you may require.
Nestled in Manhattan Upper East Side, The Surrey is located minutes away from the very best of the city--Central Park, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the galleries and boutiques of Madison Avenue. Rates are based on double occupancy. Charges for extra adults may apply and will be due directly to the hotel.
