The Stumble Inn is a great place to grab a nice cold brew and sit and chat a bit. It is in Sanlitun, which is a little area full of bars and restaurants geared to the expat community in Beijing. The prices for their drinks and food are average compared to the other pubs and restaurants in the area, but they are still relatively high compared to a bar or club you would go to that are more for Chinese people. The definite perks are the beer menu and the cheap homemade chips that they make. The chips are a great little fingerfood that are quickly made to order, and the beer menu is quite extensive. I spent a month in Belgium drinking really good beer right before spending Chinese New Years with my family in Beijing where I drank room temperature TsingTao. Not that TsingTao is a horrible beer, just incomparable to the dark brews I became accustomed to in Brussels. Needless to say, I was ecstatic to get a nice cold mug from the tap. The Stumble Inn has two floors; the second floor having a dart board and pool table. There are often live venues etc. on the second floor as well. The bartenders and waitresses are nice and pretty astute. The crowd that is there is typically what seems to be about 90% expatriots coming from all kinds of backgrounds all over the world and 10% locals that most likely are close to fluent in English as well. On the weekdays, the mood is much more laidback and quiet, and on the weekends, they tend to be a lot more crowded with loud pop music playing. Personally, I like it on the weekdays very much. It's a bit difficult to find in the SanLiTun area, but it is not exactly a touristy place. It is a good spot to meet and get to know foreigners that have moved to and live in Beijing.
