The Stock Market Cafe Taguig Reviews
SImple and elegant dining in Bonifacio High Street, and without the crowds Apr 13, 2013
UPDATE as of April 2013: Stock Market is currently being renovated and is temporarily closed for business. Will likely open in the coming months.
The Stock Market cafe used to be owned by Del Monte (which is why you will see lots of pineapples - on the floor design, and as table piece - check out the pic). The theme of the restaurant is also yellow with marble top tables - something more like a hacienda rather than a real stock market exchange. It is more simple and elegant rather than lively and fast paced.
We usually visit this place because it's the least crowded in Bonifacio High Street on a weekend. Which works to our advantage if we want to find a place to eat. However, it also means that the pace is slow (including service), since the crew are not as used to high energy places with customers arriving one after the other.
The menu has been changed since The Bistro Group of Restaurants took over in 2011. There are unique menu items, but the consistency of the food needs to be maintained. There are times when the taste and service is great, and sometimes just about average. Probably has to do with the time of day, I presume it's livelier during the early part of the evening.
The place is fairly large enough, and there are function rooms if groups would like to have meetings or dine in private. Thus the initial appeal to the business crowd rather than the party crowd.
The food is good, but not necessarily spectacular. The first time I ate there it was great because of the novelty, but the more often one returns, the menu becomes run-of-the mill. The presentation and taste of the drinks are OK, and also their Pier 21 clam chowder. Overall, I would still go back to this restaurant, but there are so many choices in Bonifacio High Street nowadays that we will prioritize novelty first before returning to what we already know (unless the other places are crowded again).
