Looking for a unique steakhouse? Try The Steer Barn in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Located just off US Route 23/US Route 30 on East Wyandot Avenue (Business Route 30), this restaurant is an old barn! Still sporting the "Mail Pouch" tobacco painting on the side, this restaurant truly has a unique decor. Noted for their prime rib and steaks, Jan and Lee Thiel, owners, will treat you to a wonderful meal, but you better come hungry!

If you are craving a prime rib, come give The Steer Barn a try. This dinner costs $19-21, but you will get a huge, prime cut of beef. First, you will receive a basket of homemade garlic toast and crackers. Once you order any entree, a lazy susan of relishes will arrive at your table. If given the chance to choose, I would suggest the peas and peanuts, carrot and raisins, and either the potato salad or the beets! All these are my personal favorites, and just about anything they bring will be good! Next, a nice sized tossed salad (try their house dressing) and a loaf of homemade bread will follow.

The size of the prime rib (or just about anything) is very generous accompanied by your choice of potato. Other entrees are steaks of all cuts, thick pork chops, chicken breast, shrimp, and others daily specials that are offered. One favorite of my family is the Mako shark. The steaks are done to your liking and so juicy!

If you are still hungry, there is a dessert menu to top off the meal. Sherbet and cheese cake are just a couple of the offerings. There is a full bar capable of serving your favorite beveridge.

The Steer Barn has a couple rooms available for groups. Keep in mind, this used to be a barn so the decor is uniquely decorated with tools of years gone by. Service is excellent! We have never been disappointed! There is ample parking and a covered drive through porch for dropping off your passengers in inclement weather.

For an enjoyable evening out, join the friendly people at The Steer Barn. Reservations are suggested on weekends and during the holiday season. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays, and most major holidays.
