The Square Root Brevard Reviews
This Adds Up Aug 27, 2015
Stumbled upon this lovely eatery because of a raven sculpture. Brevard proved to be a surprisingly hip town, with a lot of art sprinkled around. A small chalkboard next to the ravens advertised The Square Root, sitting along an alleyway behind the main drag in town. Sitting in a restored red brick building with an expansive covered outdoor seating space, looks were very enticing. The attraction grew once I walked up and read over their menu. In I went.
The interior is a delight. Modern art splashes everywhere and the bar has an art deco theme, dominated by a grand wooden counter. The cuisine is American fare, but a broad variety is offered. Tempting specials were posted on a blackboard in the main dining room, but I settled for a salad selection from the menu, a Southwest Cobb Salad. This was tasty, especially with the roasted corn salsa. I started things with a cup of their soup du jour, black bean and beef, which packed a serious “wow” factor!
Portions were small and prices slightly steep, but that was no surprise and offset by the wonderful flavors of everything served. My waitress was friendly and polite, though lacking the grace and poise expected at a nicer places. I suspect she was a local college student, so that was no surprise. And please let me stress this is not a complaint, merely an observation. The Square Root should make for a splendid choice when seeking dinner in Brevard.
