Bird reserve by lagoon Jun 25, 2009
This is a small reserve but, if you spend some time there at one of the two hides, you have a good chance of seeing some interesting waterside birds. The 4 rather than 5 for overall rating is based on my view that access for the disadvantaged should always be one point considered - but it is no worse in that respect than most nature reserves.

We were taken there by our son who goes frequently. Unfortunately we could not stay long but were lucky enough to have a good view of little egrets. These have only been regarded as a wild bird in Britain for a few years and the ones here may well have started with an escape - but they must be spectacularly good breeders!

I made further visits this year (2012) We only saw little egrets in the distance this time out on the mud flatts. Even so, over 60 mute swans together was nothing to sneeze at.
