An all-purpose bar! May 09, 2012
Although the name suggests a traditional English pub with wooden beams and old men drinking ale, The Slug and Lettuce is actually a popular bar chain with venues all over the UK. It is modern, but affordable with many fantastic offers every day of the week.

My personal favourite is Thursday's (the day of the week may differ according to the venue) two-for-one cocktail offer! You can choose from delicious cocktails such as Strawberry Margaritas, Mojitos, Sex on the Beach as well as the ever popular WooWoo and instead of paying the usual London cocktail price of 6-8 quid, you come away with TWO cocktails for that price.

I've given the address of this particular Slug and Lettuce, because it's in the tourist area in between Leicester Square and Chinatown and interestingly hosts the "London Japanese Language Meetup Group" on the first floor on the second Tuesday of every month. If your Japanese is a little rusty, maybe the 2-4-1 cocktails can help.

In terms of food the place is also a bargain. Main meals are 5.95 all day every day (including Chilli con Carne and Cottage Pie) and the nachos are also recommended.

If you're looking for somewhere casual with great bar staff, The Slug and Lettuce is definitely a good option.
Inside there are comfy sofas.
Outside the Leicester Square branc…
