The Slangkop Lighthouse Jun 07, 2008
The Slangkop Lighthouse is located in Kommetjie, South Africa between Cape Town and the Cape of Good Hope. The light has been operational since March 4, 1919 and remains a vital beacon for mariners rounding the African continent. It is the tallest cast iron tower on the South African coast with its light 41 meters above the water. The Slangkop Light emits four flashes every thirty seconds and is visible from 33 miles at sea.

Slangkop Lighthouse is easily accessible along Kommetjie Road (M65) between Cape Point and Kommetjie.
