Pros
Airport Check-in Large Pool Area Updated Rooms Tons of table games Cons Location Somewhat Review This was our first visit to the MGM Grand. We Picked it this time because of its large pool area. We had some concerns for this visit due to our sub par experience recently at other casinos that are about the same age as the MGM. Recently we have been disappointed with visits to New York New York and Caesars. This was not the case with the MGM Grand. The first impression was a great surprise, MGM/ Mirage has also added an airport check-in location. The MGM system is much more polished than the Caesars system. From what we could tell they have thought of everything. First, they are able to give you the key cards for your room whether it is immediately ready or not. Along with this you are given an ID number that can be used to charge against your room until it is ready. This number also serves as your ID to check in and verify that your room is ready. If you have a cell phone they will call you when the room is ready. Second, they get you to the hotel and your bags checked all as part of the deal. Weather your room is ready or not, you arrive at the hotel ready to go. Once your room is ready your luggage will be waiting there for you. This is an awesome service and is very well executed. The MGM is a very large resort that has continued to grow and upgrade with the times. I was amazed at how current everything seemed. The rooms were very nice, I would put them at 3rd after Venetian and Bellagio. The casino has expanded and changed as needed. The resort amenities are all there. Tons of restaurant choices, Spa, huge Pool area, and entertainment. As is there goal, you would not have to leave the resort and still have plenty to do. The only small negative thing is that if you do want to go off the resort it is located at the opposite end of the strip form most of the new construction. This is a very small issue, however we do like the location of Paris etc. better. Part of the Summer 2007 travel blog |

We stayed here because we could, it wasn't as expensive as some of the
others, but still quite deer (for us anyway) It was huge, like most of the casinos, and as always downstairs was crazy. It had as much atmosphere as these places usually do, and was better than previous Vegas hotels I have stayed in. We ventured to the night club, studio54 which was good and stayed open late, they even had women swinging from the ceilings, always a winner! The round bar at the front was also fun, with the staff dancing on the tables every hour! Part of the America 2006 travel blog |

The MGM Grand hotel is a good bet for someone looking to spend an "average" amount. It is not one of the super-new super-flashy hotels like the Bellagio, but is a solid establishment that is well kept and fun.
The standard rooms are slightly nicer than at the Flamingo Hilton, but again, nothing too fancy. Things are kept clean, and the staff is polite. It is however in a slightly less ideal location compared to the Hilton, because it is near the end of the strip. Rates are often under $100 depending on the day of the week and the season. |
